Ruggerfest

Hosted by the Blackthorn RFC, registered USA Rugby players 18 and older are invited to play in the ultimate friendly competition. A donation of $10 or more is requested of players. Games are 15 minutes long and teams are chosen at the field. Throughout the day, Blackthorn Youth teams will also play a few rounds of flag rugby.

Following Mascot School (July 4-5), boys and girls ages 4 through 8 will experience a series of races such as sprinting and relays under the supervision of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol as they take the skills learned in Mascot School and apply them to the friendly races that promote sportsmanship. Held on the 44th Street beach, this adorable competition shows off the skills of future lifeguards and is a longstanding tradition of the beach patrol.

Phillies Home Run Derby

Aim for the fences during the Phillies Home Run Derby on July 8. Open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12, registration will begin at 10:30am. Girls 7-12 and boys 9-10 will start at 11am, boys 7-8 and 11-12 at noon. Each winner will receive a plaque and will advance to the next level of competition for a chance to play in the finals at Citizens Bank Park later in the year. Free Skin Cancer Screening

As part of a statewide initiative, the Cape Atlantic Coalition will provide free skin-cancer screenings with a team of licensed dermatologists and nurses on Sunday, July 15. The event will set up under the Pavilion on the Promenade at JFK Boulevard, where participants can get a screening and talk with the professionals about skin cancer.
